POM is the abbreviation of polyoxymethylene. There are two natural colors for POM material: black and white. Its surface does not stick with paints so the appearance of POM prototype cannot be changed by spraying paints. Under such condition, when we operate POM machining, the cutting parameter of CNC machining must be in good adjustment to make product surface finish to reach customer’s requirements and to avoid polishing surface with abrasive paper. The surface effect of POM material would be in a terrible-looking after polished by abrasive paper.

There are three manufacturing methods for POM material: POM machining, Urethane Casting, and plastic injection molding. Prototype quantity decides that which kind of manufacturing should be selected. When wall thickness of the product is greater than 3mm, POM machining is the only choice. Because product is easy to shrink or out of form when adopting Urethane Casting and plastic injection molding.
